Vegetable Plants

Summer dining is synonymous with fresh from the garden. But you had better put up a fence to keep Peter Rabbit out! He will love dining on the fine edibles you’ll find at our garden center. Even your pickiest eater won’t turn up his nose at our vegetable plants.

Beginning with Broccoli
Raw or cooked, broccoli is a perfect summer food. Turn it into slaw or put it in a salad. You can even pair it with bacon! But if you prefer classic coleslaw, we of course carry cabbage. Use it to make your own sauerkraut.

Cool as a Cucumber
Slice and add cukes to a summer salad or turn that slice into a tasty English tea sandwich. Pickled cucumbers? Yum!

Onions by the Set
Chop green onions to add to your salads and slaw or store your glossy orbs for winter soups and stews. When your garden is tucked under a blanket of snow, you’ll still be eating your garden bounty.

Red Hot Chili Peppers
We offer a rainbow of peppers from red, yellow, and orange to traditional green, and sweet bells to spicy hot varieties. You won’t be able to pick just one for your garden.

Sister Squash
Whether you prefer summer or winter varieties, you can count on us. There’s acorn and butternut for pie baking or soup. People who end up with too much yellow neck or zucchini simply need some new recipes.

So Many More Vegetables
We have vegetable plants to mix and match. Glossy dark eggplants are a welcome addition. We carry a variety of lettuces to create a salad of mixed greens. If you haven’t tried kohlrabi yet, you should!

On Beyond Zucchini
What kitchen garden would be complete without our favorite fruit of the vine—tomatoes! We carry all types of tomatoes. You’ll find tomatoes to slice and eat fresh, cherry tomatoes to top off your summer salad, and roma tomatoes for making the perfect sauce.

Strawberries and rhubarb are musts for a Michigan garden. And you’ll need plenty of them. Strawberries for short cakes, freezer jam, or topping ice cream. Rhubarb for pies or cobbler. Store-bought just doesn’t taste as sweet as fresh-picked.

A cook’s garden also requires fresh herbs. Even if you don’t have space for a dedicated herb garden in your yard, you’ll want to find room on a sunny windowsill for pots of chives, parsley, and rosemary. A snip of fresh herbs as a garnish turns an ordinary dish into a gourmet delight.
